About the Mount Barker Bowling Club
The Stirling Bowling Club located at Stonehenge Avenue closed in 2003, when its numbers fell to a point where it was no longer possible to field a team in the local Pennant Competition. Being the owner of its land, the Club, through its members, decided in September 2003 to sell the land and the club’s equipment and to invest the proceeds to the end that they might be applied towards the construction of an indoor sporting facility in the Adelaide Hills. The facility was to have bowling as an important if not dominant purpose.
The Mount Barker Bowling Club designed a project that met the requirements and could be financed with the help of the funds available.
This new facility provides bowlers with shade in the summer and protection from cold and rain in the winter.
